We tried a new streamlined approach to the Great Glebe Garage Sale this year. We recruited LOTS of volunteers and split our activities into two -- one group, at our Friend's driveway down the street, some sold a small collection of the usual "stuff" and collected a good bundle of cash for our charities.
At the Meetinghouse itself, another group focused on being more of a welcoming oasis, with live music on the front porch. We also had some organic seedlings, lovely terrariums, maple syrup, tiny delicious snacks for sale, & complimentary fruit water. It was fun working together, plus we earned a good sum to split between the Centretown Emergency Food Bank and Baja Lempo child care centre.
Lots of folks enjoyed the shady forecourt or peaceful meeting room indoors (or just used our accessible bathroom) -- we hope some of our ~40 inquiring visitors will return to experience Meeting for Worship on a Sunday morning! We felt very happy to have had such varied activities (even dancing!) AND pleasure, while welcoming so many neighbours--and a lot less stress than in previous years!
