St. Lawrence Valley Friends Meeting
From the website: https://sites.google.com/site/sluquaker/local-friends-meeting where you find more detailed information.
The St. Lawrence Valley Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends was begun on the St. Lawrence University campus in 1958, by influential Quakers Calvin and Elsa Keene. Over the years, Meetings have been held in various locations, including each other’s homes and several churches in Canton and Potsdam.
In the 1970s, the Meeting affiliated with Ottawa Meeting in Canada, that being the nearest formally organized Meeting. We are considered an “Allowed Meeting under the care of Ottawa,” meaning that we are free to operate independently but have a recognized and welcoming home when we want or need it. This connection also places us within Canadian Yearly Meeting. We are authorized to hold Meetings for marriage and for memorials, as well as to conduct social activities in keeping with our beliefs.
The St. Lawrence Valley Friends Meeting meets at 5:00 pm on Sundays, in the Christian Science Reading Room in Potsdam (28 Elm Street, Potsdam, NY).
